2015 Wedding Trends
When it comes to weddings, some trends always will remain in style. Walking down the aisle in a flowing white dress, surrounded by a bevy of colorful bridesmaids. Standing beneath a trellis to take your vows under the sun or the stars. Dancing under a tent to keep your guests out of the weather.
But in 2015, you don’t have to do anything special. Wedding trends are heading toward the casual end of the spectrum. It’s OK to substitute almost anything — from shorts and jumpsuits — for the big white wedding dress. Play with themes like a Western motif or a laid-back hippie affair. Only your creativity (or that of your wedding planner) can stop you from doing it your way.
So check out a few of new wedding party ideas, as seen across the country this year. Use whatever you want. It’s your day; do just as you please.
Go Dark Red
The color of the year, as declared by Pantone, is Marsala. It’s a deep dark red or burgundy that’s making its way into wedding fashions. Talk to the team at Hendersonville Tents Party and Events Rental about finding some dishes, linens or other décor in the Marsala family. Centerpieces are rich and royal when you pair Marsala with gold in the ribbons, candles and flowers. And bridesmaids will adore the color for their dresses. Get the groomsmen to coordinate with matching Marsala cummerbunds.
Go Cowboy Wild
You don’t have to leave Western North Carolina to find some real life cowpokes and their accoutrements. For a Wild West/Country theme, set up a tent outside the barn that serves as your main theater for the wedding service. Decorating is easy when you rely on the tools of the trade — saddles, horseshoes and cowboy hats. Serve drinks in mason jars. Ride into the service on horseback, carrying a bouquet of wildflowers. Mix in patches of leather and soft cowhide, burlap and lace in your dress and in the surrounding décor. Get the groom to don a bolo tie. A country band or high-stepping fiddle group will keep the theme going all through the reception.
Go for the Trucks
A novel idea that’s catching on around the country is bringing in food trucks to feed your guests. Provide guests with choices ranging from hot dogs or barbecue to Asian delights or Mideast falafel. Food trucks offer it all up, including the goodies from the cupcake food truck. If you’re already considering a field for a tent, set aside extra space for the food trucks to supply the food for your extravaganza.
Go Earth Mother
Call it shabby chic or hippie highlights, but call it back to the earth. The retro-style of the 1960s and 1970s is back, at least for a day, with your long, flowery wedding gown, bare feet and flowers in your hair. A tent is the ideal venue for your back-to-the-earth wedding. Set up a stage with a popular folk singer, hand out guitar pics with your name and wedding date on them, serve vegetarian dishes and recycle everything. Wear bell-bottoms or one of the newer wedding jumpsuits seen on the 2015 runways. Satin, lace, long hair and peace symbols will bring back the nostalgic days of love and leave you with lasting memories of your own to honor your union.
