Let Them Dance!
Plan your tent party for dancing
People love to dance. If you provide music at your tent party, you absolutely must give your guests a place to dance, too. Music gets people moving. Feet start tapping, heads start nodding, and the next thing you know, your guests are whirling each other around to the beat.
Of course, people will dance anywhere. Outdoor concerts have proven that. But if you are planning an event that is more formal than an outdoor concert, your guests will expect a better dance floor than a grassy field. Picture your Aunt Alice trying to do a line dance on grass while wearing high heels. Oh my.
The Value of a Dance Floor
For an indoor event, you’d set up the tables and chairs around the periphery of the dance floor. When the music starts, your guests can get up and dance whenever the mood strikes them. The tables and chairs will be there when they are ready to eat or relax.
At a tent party, your guests will want to dance once the music starts. It won’t matter if you’ve hired a full band or just a disc jockey. With music comes dancing. You can’t stop it; you only can try to control where it will happen.
The Logistics of a Dance Floor
With a tent party, you may need to get creative. Whether you’re planning a huge wedding, a large family reunion or a corporate event, you likely will need a dance floor. The tent you rent, however, may not be large enough to hold all your guests, plus the band and the dance floor. Fortunately, Hendersonville Tents offers you some options, depending on your budget:
Get one of our large pole tents; one tent can fit everything you need, plus a dance floor.
Try long rectangular tables for family-style seating that can fit around the dance floor.
Choose smaller tables instead of the standard 8-seat round tables.
Use cocktail tables, which are smaller but still give guests a place to set down their plates and glasses.
Place chairs and sofas under the tent without tables to accommodate the dance floor.
Rent two smaller tents: one with tables for eating and one with the dance floor and band.
Renting a dance floor does require extra planning. You must have a level area, as dance floors sit directly on the ground. If there’s a dip in the ground, you’ll feel it on the dance floor and it may not sit correctly.
Dance Floor Sizes
When planning your tent party, you need to guesstimate how many of your guests will dance. A small 8x12-foot dance floor — about the size of a large carpet — can comfortably accommodate only about 10 couples.
Hendersonville Tents Party and Event Rentals rents marble dance floors in 3x3-foot sections and wood floors in 3x4-foot sections. Popular sizes are 12x12 feet, but larger sizes are possible.
There are also wooden clogging floors available, which are more rustic, less expensive and — get this — don’t have to be placed under a tent! Contact Hendersonville Tents Party and Event Rentals for more information.
